Content Knowledge
Rationale: In order to demonstrate effective teaching in my classroom, it was necessary for me to obtain extensive knowledge of my subject matter. Personally, I believe the significance of this standard is having a constant curiosity about the material being presented. One must always consider how prior knowledge and real-life experiences impact the learners in your classroom. Deep knowledge of the material one is teaching comes from a devotion to looking for new ways to look at the material. Auburn University has given me a great opportunity to not only study elementary education but also dive deep into core subjects.
In the following assignments, one can see where I have demonstrated my commitment to looking at multiple perspectives. One can expect to see evidence of this standard in my future classroom by looking at the material I teach and how I teach it. This will also be present as we ask big questions because we are in a state of constant learning.
During my time at Auburn University, I spent two semesters studying British Literature. Both of these classes required me to view different perspectives and look at the way history has shaped present views. In the following essay, one can see how I use a characters past experiences to interpret their motives.

Similarly, I was able to demonstrate my content knowledge by completing a close reading of "Break of Day in the Trenches" a poem by Isaac Rosenberg. This essay is a great example of using cross curriculum by using poetry to take a deeper look at the historical trench warfare.

Developing Questions
I believe it is important to be in a constant state of learning. While I believe this means my students should be asking big questions, I also think this requires the teacher to ask well developed questions. In the following assignment, I explore the ways to ask meaningful questions that help direct classroom conversation.
