Literacy

Rationale: Throughout my time at Auburn University, I have recognized that the use of language is very powerful. In order to demonstrate effective teaching in my classroom, it is necessary to have a high level of literacy. This standard suggests that not only should a teacher be demonstrating how to use literacy, but we should also be modeling literacy in our own speech. Literacy is shown in many forms including spoken and written language, reading, mathematics, and technology. The use of literacy in the classroom helps foster active learning, collaboration, and positive interaction. While Auburn University has given me a great instruction of literacy, my personal experiences growing up have shaped my literacy goals.

In the following assignments, one can see where I have demonstrated my mastery of various technology that I can integrate into a future classroom. Classroom environments have been involving as more technology is blended into education. In order to fully involve literacy in my classroom, I will work to use new and exciting technology.

I believe language is very powerful. In the following assignment, one can see where I demonstrate my ability to outline a speech. This is a great showcase of literacy because it highlights writing and speaking

Similarly, I was able to demonstrate my mastery of technology in the following assignment. Below, I have created a lesson plan showcasing bubbl.us a tool where students can create mind maps to sort their knowledge.

In the following lesson plans, I demonstrate my ability to create a coherent lesson plan with literacy as its main goal. These lessons focus on students learning fluency strategies and using text features as a tool to help them become more literate.
